Race Preview:
Greetings from Thailand! I've been here for a few days and it still hasn’t fully set in that I’m racing for the first time in Thailand! I am truly very honored to be representing the USA as the only American driver in the Bangsaen Grand Prix. This event kicks off the racing season for the Thailand Super Series and they’re celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2017. It’s the largest race in Asia and it attracts 100,000 race fans a day!

The Bangsaen Street Circuit at Chon Buri is about 45 minutes outside of Bangkok. This street course is going to be so fun and challenging - especially driving this sleek new #88 Ford Mustang - the first TA2 car of its kind here. TA2 Asia, equivalent to the TA2 Class of the Trans Am Series in the U.S., will make its debut at the Bangsaen Grand Prix this week. The hairpin is tighter than any course I have ever seen, more than Monaco or Long Beach. Once you get to a certain turning point, there’s a standing yellow in that corner until the exit, every single lap. On Sunday, I got to shake the car down and see the course. Then on Tuesday, we have our first test session.

Stay tuned for more pics, videos and stories throughout the week!

Qualifying Notes:
Qualified the #88 Ford Mustang TA2 on the pole yesterday in the GTC Class! Yay!
- Race #1, GTC/GT3 - Saturday, 3:30 pm to 4:10 pm
By the way, these times are Thailand Local Time, there's a 12 hour time difference so this means it's going to be 3:30 am Saturday morning, so set your alarms, have a coffee and enjoy!
- Race #2, GTC/GT3 - Sunday, 3:00 pm to 3:40 pm

Race Notes:
Started from the pole, led every lap, set the fastest race lap which was even quicker than my qualifying time, caught up to the faster class on track, and finished not only FIRST but third overall!

And I made America proud (but probably not the race stewards) by doing some serious American style smokey donuts for the crowd after the checker!

Everyone loved this TA2 car. They don't see - or hear - V8 American muscle cars here very often. And the sound of this Mustang echoing through the buildings in downtown Bangsaen brought the crowds to their feet! Thank you, Thailand race fans!

And many thanks to Edd Ellison for all the great on-track shots!
