NUZZO MOTORSPORTS RETURNS TO THE GLEN -FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- Nuzzo Motorsports' familiar Grand Am Cup MINI Cooper S will return to action for Watkins Glen's famed "Thunder Road for The Glen 250" on June 19, at 2PM. To date, the team has already earned the first professional pole position in MINI Cooper S history and continues to improve while looking forward to its first win of the season. Earlier this season, team driver Shane Lewis shattered the Homestead-Miami track record by nearly three seconds putting the popular MINI Cooper S on the pole. Lewis of Jupiter, FL will be joined by David Shep of Toronto, Canada. Shep finished third overall at the Mont Tremblant race in May. This is not the first time this duo has been paired. In 2002, Lewis and Shep co-drove to the GSII victory in the six-hour season finale at Daytona International Speedway. In addition to serving as teammates, the co-drivers have competed against one another at many races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Also joining the team for the Glen 250 is Steve Pattee of Adel, Iowa. Steve is no stranger to the podium and has driven the Nuzzo Motorsports MINI several times during the 2003 season. Steve will pair with team owner Tony Nuzzo who took third place honors in the Grand Am 2002 Sport Touring Championship. "We have an incredibly talented driver lineup for the Glen race," said team owner Tony Nuzzo. "The team has worked extremely hard to get us were we are and we are ready to payback that hard work with a win at the Glen." The race MINI's are being prepared by RPM Racing (www.Rpmracinginc.com) of Huntington Station, NY. "We've known Tony for a long time and when he approached us about taking over the cars' preparation, we were ready to help out", said RPM Racing's co-owner Taso Ktenas. RPM is a full service shop, performing fabrication, welding, roll cage installation, suspension, exhaust and engine building. "We perform all necessary track preparation", added Wahlers. "Elements such as setup, brakes and tuning. One of our specialties is supercharger installation; we have installed superchargers on everything from BMW E46's and Porsche 996's to Hummer H2's. Our non-racing customers include virtually all makes and models ranging from '62 Lincoln (with suicide doors) to the Cayenne, X5's, Corvettes, Vipers, Porsche, BMW, Ford, Pontiac, Rovers, Mercedes, Austin's and Ferraris." Mini Mania (www.minimania.com) also joined Nuzzo Motorsports after the Daytona race and is helping with R&D and providing performance parts. During the early stages of the season Nuzzo was having suspension difficulties and approached Mini Mania, who provided the rear arms needed to help stabilize the cars. Nuzzo has been running them since the first race in 2003 without any problem. These parts are officially approved for use on the MINI in the Grand Am Series. MINI Mania has been in business for thirty years providing parts, accessories and technical services for owners of the Classic Mini. With the introduction of the new MINI, Mini Mania's tradition met the future as it now brings new products on line for the BMW MINI Cooper. "This
is an exciting partnership opportunity for us. Working with Nuzzo
Motorsports, we are able to develop and test new performance products
that will not only help the professional racers but also the weekend
warriors", Marren Fuel Injection (www.injection.com) a division of Marren Motorsports built improved fuel system components for the MINI and has assisted with our fuel management needs. Marren has been involved with motorsports for a long time and engineers products for Automobile, Motorcycle, Marine and Aviation applications.
